Good Morning,

Just want to say thank you for reading my previous blogs, about our trip to Vietnam. I hope to raise awearness of what an amazing program this is. Not only to be a part of, but how it has given a pathway for a career, for 100 young people of Vietnam!

It was a brand new adventure, no matter how much experience indervidually or as a team we all had in hairdressing. It was far from a holiday, we wanted no rest! we wanted to teach to the highest standard and pass as much of our knowledge, As we could in a short space of time! It was all about impact, to show we care and we want the best for them and we would do everything in our power, to provid them with the basics of hairdressing. so they would be well equipt with confidence and skills to start an apprenticeship in a salon and provide a life for themselves!

I’ve already mentioned the incredible team in previous blogs. We managed to deliver training and demonstrations in;

  1. Consultation

  2. One length haircut

  3. Layers below shoulder

  4. Box Bob

  5. Short layers

  6. Graduated Bob

  7. Full head tint application

  8. Full head highlights

  9. Blow drying and styling

  10. Barbering

  11. Hair up

  12. Mood board/ inspiration session

These were practiced several times by the students!

After a lot of success, unfortunately our time there had to draw to a close.  We made great friends with the teachers, loved teaching the students and made life long friends as mentors. It’s an experience I will talk about for the rest of my life. The impact and values I’ve learned are priceless. I have changed as a person also as a stylist!

On the last day, a closing ceremony was held! It was a very emotional as all saying goodbyes are. We were joined by; representitives of UNICEF UK & VIETNAM, Government officials, all mentors and program manager, all teachers of the school, students and parents.

We had some very welcoming and powerful speeches! A great summery of our time working with the veitnamese school, and personal accounts from the mentors. We then presented gifts to the students, their faces lit up with joy!

After the formal part we then celebrated with a huge lunch and good old Vietnamese sing-along!

Please watch the video for some extra footage from the trip and part of my speech..

Once again thank you for reading, thank you WELLA/UNICEF for choosing me to respresent the UK and IRELAND on this program. Thank you VIETNAM!
